Reduce Bloom and Glow Effects

Open Bloom Settings

Access shader options and locate the bloom or glow section. This controls the soft light halo around bright sources like lava, glowstone, and the sun.

Adjust Bloom Intensity

  • Bloom Strength: Reduces or increases the brightness halo around light sources. Lower values create subtle glows; set to minimum for no bloom effect.
  • Bloom Radius: Controls how far the glow spreads. Smaller radius keeps glow tight around the source; larger radius creates atmospheric light bleeding.
  • Bloom Threshold: Determines which blocks trigger bloom. Raise the threshold so only the brightest sources (sun, lava) glow; lower it to affect more blocks.

Performance Impact

Bloom is relatively lightweight, but disabling it entirely can provide a small performance boost on lower-end systems.

Test in Different Lighting

Visit caves with lava, nether structures, and surface areas at night to see how your bloom adjustments affect visibility and atmosphere. Find the balance between visual appeal and clarity.
