How to Use the Glow While Caving and Mining Without Getting Confused
What the Glow Actually Does for You
The outlines make ores stand out against dark stone, which is genuinely useful in low-light tunnels and on the nether ceiling where Ancient Debris hides. The important limitation: the glow is only a texture effect. It does not emit real light, so it will not illuminate the area around an ore, and it will not reveal ores through walls or behind blocks. You still need torches or another light source to see properly.
Practical Mining Habits
1. Scan tunnel walls and floors for colored edges rather than relying on your light level alone.
2. In the Deepslate layers, watch for the deepslate ore variants, since they share the same outline treatment as their stone counterparts.
3. When hunting Ancient Debris, sweep the ceiling and floor of nether tunnels — the outline helps it pop against netherrack.
4. Use the Block of Raw Iron, Copper, and Gold outlines to quickly spot storage blocks in bases or loot rooms.
5. Do not expect the pack to mark chests, spawners, or other valuables; only the listed ores and raw blocks glow.
Pair the pack with a light source and a good pickaxe, and treat the glow as a highlight, not a detector.
