Setting or Clearing Another Player's Nickname as an Admin

Targeting Other Players

Admins can apply the same styling system to other players by adding a target argument to the nickname command, typically in the form /nick set <player> <name>. This is useful for assigning themed names to staff, event participants, or players who cannot format their own names correctly. The formatting tags work identically to self-assigned nicknames, so any gradient or color you have tested on yourself will work on someone else.

To remove a nickname you assigned, use the clear form of the command with the target player. Clearing restores their normal username in chat and, if enabled, in the player list. Do not set a nickname equal to their real name as a workaround — clearing is the intended path and avoids leaving stale styling data.

Enforcing Formatting Rules

Because the mod is configurable, you can restrict which formatting types are available server-wide. If players are abusing gradients or flashing colors, disable those tag types in the configuration rather than policing nicknames individually. You can also set a maximum nickname length and grant override permission only to trusted users, so most players are capped while staff can exceed the limit. When you change these rules, existing nicknames are not automatically rewritten, so review and clear any that now violate the new policy.
