Making Your Nickname a Gradient or Rainbow Effect

Gradient Syntax

Gradients are the most requested styling feature. A gradient tag takes a list of colors and smoothly interpolates between them across the characters of your nickname. The general shape is a gradient tag followed by the colors, then the text it applies to. Two colors give a simple blend from start to end; three or more colors create a multi-stop gradient that passes through each color in order.

A practical approach is to build the nickname in stages. First set a plain colored nickname and verify it. Then replace the single color tag with a gradient tag using the same colors you already confirmed work. This isolates any error to the gradient syntax rather than the color names.

Rainbow and Repeating Effects

For a rainbow look, supply a longer list of colors spanning the hue wheel. Because the gradient stretches across the whole nickname, longer names show the transition more smoothly, while short names can look abrupt — add more color stops if a short name looks banded. If your server has old-style formatting codes enabled, you can also mix in legacy codes, but gradients generally produce cleaner results. Remember that the nickname length limit still applies to the raw text, not the rendered result, so extremely elaborate gradients may hit the cap.
