Stronger Farmland Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I stop mobs from trampling my farmland?
Just install the mod and play normally. Once farmland is hydrated by nearby water, players, horses, dogs, and Iron Golems can no longer trample it back to dirt.
Does this mod protect dry farmland too?
No. Only hydrated farmland is protected, so make sure your crops have a water source within range. Dry farmland can still be trampled as usual.
Do I need to craft or place anything for the mod to work?
No items or blocks are added. The protection is automatic and applies to any hydrated farmland in your world.
Will my own player character still trample crops?
Not hydrated farmland. The mod blocks trampling from players as well as mobs, so you can walk across your hydrated fields without turning them back to dirt.
Why is my farmland still turning to dirt even with the mod installed?
Check whether the farmland is actually hydrated by water. Unhydrated farmland is not protected, and jumping onto farmland from a height may still break it in some setups.
Does this work on servers, or only singleplayer?
It works on both, but on a server the mod must be installed on the server side for the protection to apply. Client-only installation won't stop trampling for other players.
Can mobs like rabbits or villagers still ruin my crops?
The mod specifically covers players, horses, dogs, and Iron Golems. Other mobs that destroy crops through different mechanics are not affected by this protection.
Is this mod compatible with other farming mods?
It generally works alongside farming and decoration mods since it only changes trampling behavior. If another mod replaces farmland with its own block, that block may not be protected.
Will this hurt my game's performance?
No noticeable impact. The mod only checks trampling events, so it adds essentially no overhead to normal gameplay.
Can I turn the protection off or configure it?
The mod is designed to be simple and applies its protection by default. Check the mod's config file if you want to see whether any options are available for your setup.
