How to Turn Strays Off or Restore Normal Skeleton Spawning

Maybe you tried the mod and decided you want your world to feel more vanilla, or you only want strays in their original ice biomes. You can do that without uninstalling anything.

Disabling Strays Entirely

1. Close Minecraft.

2. Open the mod's config file in your config folder.

3. Find chanceSkeletonIsStray.

4. Set it to 0.

5. Save and relaunch.

With the value at 0, no skeleton will be converted into a stray, so strays will only appear where vanilla Minecraft allows them, which is the frozen biome spawn behaviour you started with.

Reducing Instead of Removing

If you do not want them gone completely, lower the value rather than zeroing it. A small value keeps strays rare and surprising, which many players prefer for a survival world where arrows of slowness would otherwise be too easy to stockpile.

Things to Keep in Mind

Changing the config affects newly spawned mobs only. Strays that already exist in your world will stay as they are, so if you want a clean slate you may need to deal with existing ones or move away from the area. On a server, the server's config is the one that matters, so ask the operator to make the change if you are not in charge of it.
