How to Make Strays Spawn in Every Biome

By default Minecraft only lets strays appear in frozen and snowy areas. This mod removes that restriction, but you still have to make sure the conditions are right for skeletons to spawn at all, otherwise you will not see any strays no matter what the config says.

Why You Might Not See Strays Yet

Strays replace skeletons, so anywhere a skeleton can spawn, a stray can now appear instead. That means you need the usual hostile mob conditions: darkness, a valid spawnable block, and enough distance from the player. If you are standing in a lit-up base, nothing will spawn regardless of your config value.

Getting Reliable Spawns

1. Check that your config value for the stray chance is above 0.

2. Go out at night or into an unlit cave where skeletons normally appear.

3. Give it time, since the chance applies per skeleton that spawns, not per second.

4. If you want faster results, raise the chance value so more of the skeletons that do spawn become strays.

Remember that spawners, mob spawn eggs, and commands that create skeletons are not affected by natural spawn rules in the same way, so test in the open world rather than next to a dungeon spawner.
