How to Find an Underground Village in Stoneholm

Stoneholm villages generate in the Overworld's underground, so you will not spot them from the surface. You need to dig or cave with intent.

Where to look

Head down to the deep cave layers and explore large connected cave systems, ravines, and mineshaft networks. Village entrances often appear as doorways or openings carved into stone walls, sometimes with a spiral staircase leading further down. Watch for torches, lanterns, or lit corridors that do not match natural cave generation — that lighting is your strongest signal that a settlement is nearby.

Practical search routine

1. Bring plenty of torches, a pickaxe, food, and blocks to bridge gaps.

2. Follow lit corridors instead of unlit natural tunnels; villagers and Iron Golems keep their halls illuminated.

3. If you find a single door in a stone wall, open it — it usually leads into a home or a hallway hub.

4. Mark your path with distinct blocks so you can backtrack through the confusing galleries.

5. Listen for villager sounds, Iron Golem footsteps, or animal noises from grassy farm areas; these carry through the tunnels.

Once inside, expect branching hallways, abandoned sections, and connected rooms. Do not assume every corridor is safe or populated — some parts are sealed off and quiet.
