Steadfast Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on Steadfast Shaders?
Open your shader settings from the main menu or pause screen, find Steadfast Shaders in your shader pack list, and select it. Your world will reload with the shader applied.
Why are my shadows so dark I can't see anything?
Adjust the shadow intensity or shadow distance in the shader settings—lower values make shadows less harsh. You can also increase ambient lighting to brighten shadowed areas.
Can I use Steadfast Shaders with other mods?
Yes, Steadfast Shaders works with most mods, but mods that heavily modify lighting or add custom blocks may cause visual glitches. Test your mod combination and report incompatibilities if they occur.
My fps dropped a lot after installing shaders
Lower the shadow quality or shadow distance in shader settings, reduce your render distance, or disable reflection effects—these are the most performance-intensive features.
Why do water reflections look weird or glitchy?
This often happens with transparent or semi-transparent blocks near water. Try adjusting the reflection quality setting or check if another mod is conflicting with block rendering.
How do I make leaves and grass look more detailed?
Go to the foliage customization settings in your shader options and increase the foliage detail or fantasy effect slider to enhance how plants render.
Does Steadfast Shaders work on servers?
Shaders are client-side only, so they work on any server without needing to install anything server-side—only you will see the shader effects.
Can I use this on a really old graphics card?
Steadfast Shaders is designed for low-end hardware, but very old cards may still struggle; start with shadow quality set to low and disable reflections if needed.
Why do mobs look weird or invisible with shaders on?
Some mobs may render incorrectly if their models conflict with shadow casting. Try disabling mob shadows in the settings or check if a mod adding custom mobs is causing the issue.
How do I turn off just the reflections but keep shadows?
Open your shader settings and look for reflection or water effect options—you can disable reflections independently while keeping shadow rendering active.
