How to Use the Timer to Diagnose Slow Minecraft Startup

Establish a Baseline

Before you can tell whether a launch is slow, you need a normal number. Launch the game a few times with your current setup and note the total load time shown on the main menu. Use the same world or menu state each time so the comparison is fair. This baseline is what every later measurement is judged against.

Test One Change at a Time

When startup feels slow, change a single thing and relaunch:

  • Remove or disable one mod, then compare the new total against your baseline.
  • Re-enable it and disable a different one, repeating the process.
  • If a resource pack or shader is in play, toggle that alone and measure again.

Because the mod gives you a concrete finished number each launch, you can attribute a slowdown to a specific addition instead of guessing.

Reading the Live Counter for Stalls

During loading, watch the running timer. A steady climb is normal. A long pause where the number barely moves points to one heavy step — often world or resource preparation — rather than general slowness. Note roughly when the stall happens, then check your log around that point.

Keep your baseline notes somewhere handy; the value of this mod is in comparing launches, not in any single reading.
