Startup Timer Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the startup timer?
There's nothing to enable — the timer appears automatically in the corner of the loading screen as soon as the game begins starting. If you don't see it, check that the mod is actually loaded for your game instance.
Where does the timer show up while the game is loading?
It displays as a small overlay on the loading screen, showing elapsed time counting up while the game boots. It disappears once you reach the main menu, where the total is shown instead.
How do I see my total load time?
The total load time is displayed on the main menu after startup finishes. Look for the timer text on the menu screen — it shows how long the whole startup took.
Why does the game go fullscreen before the main menu?
That's the behavior this mod prevents — it holds off fullscreen until the main menu is actually displayed. If you're still seeing early fullscreen, another mod or your launcher may be forcing it.
Can I move or hide the timer display?
The mod is intentionally minimal and doesn't add config screens for repositioning or hiding the overlay in most builds. If you want it gone, you'd have to remove the mod rather than toggle it.
Does this mod work on servers or only singleplayer?
It's a client-side quality-of-life mod, so it only affects your own game startup. You don't need it installed on a server, and it won't change anything for other players.
Will the startup timer slow down my game?
No — it just reads and displays timing information that the game already tracks. The overhead is negligible compared to actual loading work.
Is this compatible with other performance mods?
It generally coexists fine with performance and optimization mods since it only adds a display overlay. Conflicts are rare, but if the timer vanishes, check load order and whether another mod overrides the loading screen.
Why is my load time so long according to the timer?
The timer reflects real elapsed time, so a high number usually means many mods, large worlds, or slow disk/CPU. Use it as a baseline, then remove or update mods and compare the new total.
Does the timer reset each launch?
Yes — it measures the current startup session only. Each time you launch the game, the elapsed timer starts fresh and the main menu shows that launch's total.
