How to Read the Startup Timer Display While the Game Loads
Where the Timer Appears
As soon as the mod's loading screen takes over, a small timer text appears on screen and begins counting upward. This is the elapsed time since the game started loading, not a countdown — the number only ever increases. You do not need to press anything or open a menu to see it; it is drawn automatically on the loading screen.
What the Number Means
The value shown is the running total of how long the current launch has taken so far. It keeps ticking through mod loading, resource reloading, and world preparation until the main menu is ready. If the counter appears frozen, the game is likely busy on a single heavy task (for example, building the texture atlas), and the display will resume once that finishes.
Using It in Practice
- Watch the timer to judge whether a launch is normal or unusually slow for your setup.
- Compare the running count against your usual launch time to spot a mod that has started dragging things out.
- If the timer stops advancing for a long stretch, that is your cue to check the log for a stuck or failing mod rather than assuming the game has crashed.
The timer is purely informational — it changes nothing about how the game loads.
