Tracking Startup Time Changes Across Modpack Updates
Why Track Over Time
When you update a modpack or add several mods at once, startup time can creep upward without you noticing. Recording the reported figure after each change lets you catch a pack that has become slow to load before it becomes frustrating.
Setting Up a Simple Log
Keep a plain text file or spreadsheet with three columns: date, what changed, and the startup time reported. After every pack update or batch of mod changes, launch once to let things settle, then launch again and record the second reading.
Comparing Updates
- Record the time before applying an update.
- Apply the update and relaunch.
- Record the new time and note the difference.
- If the jump is large, consider which newly added mods are the likely cause and test them individually.
When to Act
If load time grows steadily across several updates, review recently added content mods first, as they tend to register the most during startup. Use the mod's figure as your signal, then confirm the culprit with single-mod tests. This keeps a long-lived pack loading in a reasonable time.
