Startup Time Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I see my startup time after the game loads?
Once Minecraft finishes loading and you reach the main menu, the mod automatically displays the total startup time. You don't need to press anything — the result appears on screen or in chat depending on your setup.
Where does the startup time message appear?
The mod shows the total load time once loading completes, typically as an on-screen message or chat notification. If you missed it, check your log file, where the mod also records the result.
Does the timer start when I click Play or when the game window opens?
The timer measures the game's loading process itself, from early startup through to the main menu being ready. It does not include time you spend sitting on the launcher before launching.
Why is my startup time different every time I launch?
Load times vary due to disk caching, background programs, and how much of the game is already cached in memory. The first launch after a restart is usually slower than subsequent ones.
Can I use this mod to compare load times between different modpacks?
Yes, that's one of its main uses — launch each pack and note the reported time to see which loads faster. Just keep in mind that hardware caching and background tasks can skew results, so compare multiple launches.
Does Startup Time Mod itself slow down my game?
No, the mod only measures and reports load time, so its own performance impact is negligible. Any slowdown you see comes from other mods or your system, not the timer.
Is it compatible with other performance mods like Sodium or OptiFine?
The mod is a lightweight timer and generally works alongside performance and optimization mods without conflict. If a load time looks unusually short or long, check whether another mod is altering the loading process.
Can I turn off or hide the startup time message?
Check the mod's config file or in-game config screen for a toggle to disable the display. If no toggle exists, the message is harmless and only appears once per launch.
Why doesn't the startup time show up at all?
Make sure the mod is actually loaded and that no other mod is suppressing chat or overlay messages. Also check your log file — if the time is recorded there but not shown on screen, a display setting or conflicting mod is likely hiding it.
Does the mod work on servers, or only singleplayer?
Startup time is a client-side measurement, so it works whenever you launch your own game, including when connecting to servers. It measures your client's load, not the server's.
