How to Farm Cobwebs Automatically Using Spiders

Set up the trap

This mod lets you turn spiders into a passive cobweb source, which is far easier than hunting mineshafts.

1. Build a small chamber with a hollow floor — a single layer of air blocks with a solid platform beneath, so the spider stands on air but cannot fall through.

2. Use a spawner, spawn egg, or natural spawn area to get spiders or cave spiders into the chamber.

3. Stand within maxDistanceToSpiderBlocks of the chamber. If you want to AFK further away, raise that value in the config.

4. Leave the area loaded. Webs will accumulate on the air blocks the spiders occupy.

Harvesting without breaking the farm

  • Break webs with a sword or shears for faster collection; shears give you the cobweb block itself.
  • Do not fill the floor with solid blocks when harvesting — you will disable the air-block requirement and stop production.
  • Keep the spiders alive. Killing them resets your farm and you must repopulate it.
  • Cave spiders work the same way, so a cave spider spawner is a compact option.

Scaling up

More spiders in the same chamber means more webs per cycle, since each spider checks independently. A wide, flat air floor with several spiders gives the best yield. If webs start blocking spider movement, clear a walking path so they keep repositioning onto fresh air blocks.
