Choosing and Crafting Your First Shield

Spartan Shields expands combat by adding a wide range of craftable shields built from different materials and styles. Rather than a single generic shield, the mod offers variants tied to the metals and materials you already gather, so your shield choice reflects the resources you have on hand.

Start simple. The Crude Wooden Shield is the entry point and gives you a basic blocking option early on. From there, shields scale with material tier — copper, bronze, aluminum, constantan, electrum, and diamond variants each represent a step up in the material progression you are already following.

Shields come in two broad shapes: standard shields and tower shields. Tower shields favor heavier protection, while standard shields are lighter. Plated, braced, and reinforced naming reflects how each shield is constructed from its base material.

Because the mod integrates with Spartan Weaponry, blocking and bashing behave consistently with that combat system. Craft the shield matching your current material tier, then upgrade as you progress.
