How to Fix Sounds That Always Play at Full Volume
Diagnosing the Problem
If a particular sound never gets quieter with distance and never pans left or right, the mod is not failing. That sound file is almost certainly stereo. Sound Physics Mod can only spatialize mono audio; stereo files bypass the simulation entirely and play flat at full volume. The fix is to convert the offending file to mono.
Converting Stereo Sounds to Mono
1. Locate the sound file causing the issue. It will be inside the mod's or a resource pack's assets folder, under a sounds directory.
2. Open it in a free audio editor such as Audacity.
3. If the track shows two separate waveforms, it is stereo. Use the editor's mono conversion or mix-down function to combine both channels into one.
4. Export as the same format the game expects (typically Ogg Vorbis) and keep the original filename.
5. Place the converted file in a resource pack that overrides the original, then enable that pack.
Verifying the Fix
After converting, walk away from the sound source. It should now fade with distance and shift from left to right as you circle it. If it still plays flat, double-check that you exported mono and not a stereo file with identical channels, since identical stereo channels still count as stereo.
When to Leave Sounds Alone
UI clicks, music, and menu sounds are intentionally non-positional, so converting them is unnecessary and can make them sound worse.
