How to Lower the Volume of a Loud Sound Without Muting It Completely
Why Lower Instead of Mute
Some sounds are useful but too loud — an Enderman's death scream, a Wither spawn, or a modded boss roar. Muting them entirely removes useful audio feedback, so instead you want to reduce their volume while keeping them audible.
Adjusting the Slider
Open Options → Music & Sounds → Individual Sounds. Use the search bar to locate the sound by keyword (for example, enderman or the mod's sound name). Each entry has its own volume slider. Drag it down partway rather than to zero. There's no fixed "correct" value — start by pulling it down noticeably, then test in-game and fine-tune. If the sound is still too loud, lower it further; if it's now too quiet to hear, raise it slightly.
Testing and Reverting
Trigger the sound in-game to check the result. If you overshoot, reopen the screen and adjust the same slider. The mod remembers your values, so you only need to set them once. To quickly review everything you've adjusted, enable the filter toggle that shows only modified volumes, so you can spot-check and revert anything you changed by mistake.
