How to Use the Storage Tool and Paintbrush on Contraption Storage Blocks

Using the Storage Tool

Hold the Storage Tool and right-click a Sophisticated Storage block that is on a Create contraption. This opens or cycles the management options for that block, letting you handle locks and visual settings. The same tool works whether the block is stationary or moving, so you can adjust a train car's storage mid-route.

Using the Paintbrush

Hold the Paintbrush and right-click the storage block to change its color and material. This applies to blocks on contraptions just as it does to static ones. You can repaint a moving block without stopping the contraption.

Step-by-Step

1. Place your barrel, chest, or shulker box on the contraption.

2. Assemble the contraption so the block is part of the moving structure.

3. Right-click with the Storage Tool to configure locks and visual options.

4. Right-click with the Paintbrush to set color and material.

5. Verify the changes persist after the contraption moves.

Notes

• Both tools target the block you click, so aim carefully when the contraption is in motion.
• Changes made with either tool are saved with the block and survive movement and disassembly.
