How to Keep Items and Settings Safe When Storage Moves on a Create Contraption

What Is Preserved

When a Sophisticated Storage block is placed on a Create contraption and the contraption moves, the block keeps all of its items, upgrades, and settings. This includes the contents of barrels, chests, and shulker boxes, as well as any applied upgrades and configured options. Nothing is dropped or reset by the movement itself.

Before You Assemble

Fill and configure your storage block while it is still stationary if that is easier. Apply upgrades, set locks with the Storage Tool, and choose colors with the Paintbrush beforehand. All of these carry over when the contraption assembles and starts moving.

During and After Movement

You can continue to open the block, insert or extract items, and apply further upgrades while the contraption is in motion. Settings you change mid-flight also persist. When the contraption stops or disassembles, the block retains everything — there is no need to re-apply upgrades or re-sort items.

Practical Tips

• Use the Pickup and Magnet upgrades on moving storage to automatically collect items as the contraption travels.
• Crafting upgrades let the moving block process recipes on the go.
• If you plan to move a large amount of cargo, apply tier upgrades first so capacity is already expanded before departure.
• Keep a Storage Tool handy to adjust locks and visuals without stopping the contraption.
