How do I enable SoftShade after installing it?
Launch Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then select SoftShade from your shader pack list and apply it. You'll see the soft lighting take effect immediately in your world.
Why does my game look washed out or too bright?
Check your Lighting Intensity setting in the shader options menu—lower this value to reduce overall brightness and restore contrast to your world. You can also adjust Exposure or Brightness sliders if available to fine-tune the look.
Can I use SoftShade with resource packs?
Yes, SoftShade works with most resource packs, though the final appearance depends on how the pack's textures interact with the shader's lighting. Test your favorite resource pack combination and adjust shader settings if needed for the best result.
My FPS dropped a lot after installing this shader. What can I do?
Try lowering Shadow Quality or disabling advanced lighting features in the shader settings menu, and ensure your render distance isn't set too high. If performance is still poor, check that your GPU drivers are up to date and close other applications.
Does SoftShade work with Optifine?
SoftShade is designed to work with Optifine, which provides shader support in vanilla Minecraft. Make sure you have a compatible version of Optifine installed before loading the shader pack.
How do I adjust the color of my world (warmer, cooler, etc.)?
Open the shader settings menu in-game and look for Color Grading or Color Temperature options to shift the overall tone warmer or cooler. You can also adjust individual color channels if those settings are available.
Can I make shadows softer or sharper?
Look for Shadow Softness or Shadow Blur settings in the shader options—increase these values for softer shadows or decrease them for sharper, more defined shadows. You can also adjust Shadow Distance to control how far shadows render from your character.
Why do caves look too dark or too bright?
