Sodium Extra Information Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on the sodium extra information hud?
Open the Sodium Extra settings from the video settings menu and enable the information overlay option. Once enabled, the HUD appears in the corner of your screen during gameplay.
Where does the info overlay show up on screen?
The overlay renders in a screen corner by default, and you can change which corner and its position in the mod's config. If it overlaps other HUD elements, move it or hide the conflicting element.
How do I move or hide the information overlay?
Open the mod's config screen and adjust the overlay position, or toggle the overlay off entirely. Changes usually apply immediately without restarting the game.
Does this mod work without sodium extra installed?
It is built to extend Sodium Extra, so it depends on Sodium Extra being present. Install Sodium Extra alongside it or the overlay will not function.
Is sodium extra information compatible with shaders and other hud mods?
It generally works alongside shader packs and other HUD mods, but overlapping overlays can stack on top of each other. If text becomes unreadable, reposition or disable one of the overlays.
Why is my entity count so high and how do I fix lag?
A high entity count means many mobs, items, or projectiles are loaded near you, which costs performance. Use the count to identify crowded areas, then reduce entities by clearing drops, lowering mob spawns, or moving away.
What does the memory usage readout actually tell me?
It shows how much of your allocated RAM the game is currently using, including extended details. If usage stays near the maximum, increase allocated memory or lower render distance to avoid stuttering.
How do I see my biome and world day without pressing F3?
Enable the biome and world time options in the overlay config, and they appear directly on the HUD. This lets you check exploration info without opening the debug screen.
Does the session timer reset when I change dimensions or respawn?
The session duration tracks your continuous play session, so it keeps counting through dimension changes and respawns. It resets when you restart the game.
The overlay is causing lag or flickering, how do I fix it?
Lower the overlay update frequency in the config or disable the most demanding readouts like entity counts. If flickering persists, check for conflicts with other HUD mods and disable them one at a time.
