How to Check Whether Smoke Suppression Is Working on a Campfire

Quick Visual Test

Smoke Suppression Mod does not add a new block or item — it silently removes smoke particles. To confirm it is active:

1. Place a campfire on top of a block from the suppression list, such as a hopper or a rail.

2. Stand back and watch the campfire for a few seconds. A working setup shows no smoke particles at all.

3. Now break the block underneath and replace it with a block that is not on the list (for example plain stone, unless you added it). The smoke should return.

4. If smoke never disappears, the block below is not on the list, or your config file has a syntax error.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure the suppressing block is directly beneath the campfire, not diagonal or one block lower.
  • Confirm the block ID in config/smoke_suppression.json matches the exact namespace and name.
  • If you edited the config while the game was running, restart so it reloads.
  • Remember both normal and soul campfires are affected, so test whichever type you use.

This test also helps you verify custom blocks you added, letting you build farms with confidence that no stray particles will appear.
