How to Smelt Sand Into Glass Using a Blast Furnace

Setting Up the Blast Furnace

Place your blast furnace and right-click it to open the interface. You will see the standard three slots: an input slot at the top, a fuel slot on the bottom, and an output slot on the right. Put your sand into the top input slot. Add any valid furnace fuel — coal, charcoal, blocks of coal, lava buckets, or whatever you normally burn — into the bottom slot.

Collecting Your Glass

Once both slots are filled, the blast furnace will begin processing. Because this mod registers sand as a valid blast furnace recipe, the sand will convert into glass at roughly double the speed of a regular furnace. The finished glass appears in the output slot on the right, and you can pull it out by shift-clicking or dragging it into your inventory. The blast furnace will keep consuming sand from the input slot and fuel from the bottom slot automatically, so you can queue up a large stack and walk away.

Tips for Bulk Production

  • Use a hopper feeding into the top slot and another hopper pulling from the output slot to fully automate the process.
  • Blast furnaces only accept certain fuels efficiently, so stick to coal or charcoal for the best burn ratio.
  • If nothing happens when you insert sand, double-check that the mod is loaded and that sand has not been removed from the smelting list in the config file.
