How do I get the Smelting enchantment on my pickaxe?
You can obtain it three ways: use an enchantment table (it appears as a random option), find it in loot chests while exploring, or trade with villagers who may offer it. The enchantment level affects how reliably ores are smelted.
Does Smelting enchantment work on all ores?
The enchantment works on ores that normally smelt into ingots or other materials in a furnace. Some mod-added ores may not be compatible depending on how they're registered in the game.
Can I combine Smelting with Fortune or Silk Touch?
Smelting and Silk Touch cannot be on the same pickaxe since they conflict (one smelts, one preserves the ore block). Smelting works independently and doesn't interact with Fortune's drop multiplier.
Why isn't my ore being smelted when I mine it?
Check that the enchantment is actually on your pickaxe (hover over it in inventory), ensure you're mining the ore with that pickaxe, and verify the ore type is supported. If the pickaxe is very low level, smelting may fail occasionally.
Do I need fuel in my inventory for Smelting to work?
No, the enchantment smelts ores instantly without requiring fuel—that's the main advantage over manual smelting.
What happens to the smelted items? Do they go straight to my inventory?
Smelted items drop on the ground like normal ore drops, so you pick them up the same way. They don't automatically enter your inventory.
Does Smelting enchantment give experience points?
No, you only receive the smelted item itself. You don't get the experience you would from smelting in a furnace or the ore-breaking experience.
Can I use Smelting enchantment on tools other than pickaxes?
The enchantment is designed specifically for pickaxes. It won't appear as an option for other tools.
Does this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight since it only processes ores as you mine them. Performance impact should be minimal on most systems.
Does Smelting work with deep slate ores or other variant ores?
Yes, it works on ore variants like deepslate ores as long as they smelt into the same materials as their regular counterparts.
