Smelt Raw Ore Blocks Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I smelt a raw ore block?
Place a raw ore block in a furnace or blast furnace just like you would with raw ore pieces. The smelting process will take nine times longer than smelting individual raw ore, but you'll get a metal block as the output instead of nine separate ingots.
Can I smelt raw ore blocks in a regular furnace or do I need a blast furnace?
Both work. A regular furnace will smelt raw ore blocks, but a blast furnace will do it faster, just like with individual raw ore pieces.
What's the point of smelting raw ore blocks if it takes so much longer?
Smelting raw ore blocks saves you multiple steps: you skip combining nine ingots into a block afterward. This is most useful when you're processing large quantities of ore and want to streamline your workflow.
Do I lose any materials when smelting a raw ore block?
No. A raw ore block smelts into exactly one metal block with no waste, just like nine individual raw ore pieces would smelt into nine ingots that you'd then combine.
Can I smelt raw ore blocks from all ores or just some?
The mod works with raw ore blocks from ores that have raw ore variants in vanilla Minecraft, which includes iron, copper, and gold.
Should I combine raw ore into blocks before smelting or smelt individual pieces?
If you're smelting everything anyway, combining into blocks first saves inventory space and reduces the number of furnace slots needed, but takes the same total time. For small quantities, smelting individual raw ore is faster.
Does this mod work with other mods that add new ores?
The mod only smelts raw ore blocks for ores that have raw ore variants. Compatibility with other mods depends on whether those mods follow the same raw ore block system.
Can I use hoppers to automate raw ore block smelting?
Yes. Raw ore blocks work like any other furnace input, so you can use hoppers, item pipes, or other automation to feed raw ore blocks into furnaces and extract the resulting metal blocks.
Does smelting a raw ore block give the same XP as smelting nine raw ore pieces?
Smelting a raw ore block gives you the experience reward for completing one smelt, not nine separate smelts, so you'll earn less XP per block than you would from smelting the pieces individually.
Is there a way to turn metal blocks back into raw ore blocks?
No. This mod only handles smelting raw ore blocks into metal blocks. To reverse the process, you'd need to mine the metal blocks and convert them back through other means, which is not part of this mod.
