Testing and Comparing the Small Totem Pop Animation Safely
Set up a safe test
You want to see the animation without risking gear or a hardcore world. Use a creative or disposable test world. Give yourself a Totem of Undying and a way to take lethal damage — fall damage from a controlled height, or a hostile mob in an enclosed space. The goal is to trigger a save on demand and watch the animation from a consistent viewpoint.
Compare with and without the pack
1. With the pack disabled, trigger a totem save and note where the animation appears and how much of the screen it covers.
2. Enable the pack, reload, and trigger the same save from the same position and
camera angle.
3. Compare the size and vertical position. The pack's version should be smaller and sit lower.
4. Repeat a few times, since the animation is brief and easy to miss on the first try.
Judging whether it suits you
The trade-off is simple: a smaller, lower animation
blocks less of your view, but it is also less dramatic and easier to overlook. If you rely on the pop as a loud visual warning that you just survived, watch a few saves and decide whether the reduced prominence still reads clearly enough for you. Players who mainly want an unobstructed screen during fights tend to prefer it; players who want a strong, obvious cue may not.
