Small Ships Heraldry Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start editing sails?
Place down a Heraldry Table workstation, then right-click it to open the 3D sail editor. Select your ship type (Cog, Brigg, Galley, or Drakkar) and sail stage, and you're ready to paint.
Can I edit sails for ships I don't own yet?
Yes—the editor lets you design and save sail patterns independently of any ship. You can create drafts, save them as files, and apply them to vessels later.
What's the difference between the five sail stages?
Each stage represents a different sail configuration as your ship deploys more canvas. You can design unique patterns for each stage, and they'll display correctly as the ship's sails unfold during gameplay.
How do I make sure my design is symmetrical?
Use the symmetry tool in the editor to mirror your brush strokes across a vertical or horizontal axis in real-time, so both sides of the sail match perfectly.
Can I copy a design from one sail stage to another?
Yes—use the copy and paste tools to select pixels from one stage and transfer them to another, which is useful for creating variations or reusing elements across different sail configurations.
How do I print my design onto a ship?
Once you've finished editing, print your design at the Heraldry Table to create a heraldry print item. Then sneak-use the print on your ship to install it.
What happens if I replace a sail design that's already on my ship?
The old heraldry print is returned to your inventory, so you don't lose it—you can install it on another ship or save it for later.
How do I remove heraldry from a ship without replacing it?
Sneak-use shears on the ship to strip away the current sail design and return it to your inventory.
Can I duplicate a heraldry print?
Yes—place one heraldry print in a crafting grid surrounded by eight pieces of paper to create a copy.
Do my saved sail designs work across different worlds and servers?
Yes—drafts are saved as local files on your computer, so you can import and reuse them in any world or server where the mod is installed.
