Farming Slime Balls from Merged Slimes
Slime Ball Drop Mechanics
When you defeat a slime, it drops slime balls. Larger slimes drop more slime balls than smaller ones, making merged slimes valuable for farming. A slime that results from merging four smaller slimes will yield significantly more drops.
Setting Up a Grinding Area
Create a dedicated combat zone separate from your breeding chambers. Use fall damage, suffocation, or direct combat to defeat merged slimes. A 20-block fall typically kills most slimes reliably. Position collection hoppers beneath your grinding area to gather drops automatically.
Maximizing Yield
Focus on creating larger merged slimes rather than farming many small ones. Four small slimes merged into one larger slime will produce more total slime balls when defeated than killing the four separately. This makes the merging mechanic economically worthwhile.
Automation Considerations
Combine your farm with a grinding system using water channels to push slimes into a kill zone. Hopper collection and chest storage streamline the process. The more merged slimes you can process, the faster your slime ball production.
