Troubleshooting Skippy Pearls That Won't Bounce
Check the Surface First
Skipping only happens on actual water. If your pearl is landing on ice, packed ice, blue ice, or a waterlogged block, expect normal behavior. Likewise, a pearl that hits a lily pad, a boat, or a mob standing in the water will stop early. Clear the surface or aim at open water.
Check Your Angle
A pearl thrown almost straight down will not skip far, because it enters the water too steeply. If your pearls keep stopping after one contact, you are throwing too high and too short. Move to higher ground, aim further out, and throw with a flatter arc. Sprinting into the throw also helps.
Check the Data Pack Is Active
If nothing skips at all, the data pack may not be enabled for this world. Open your world's data pack settings and confirm it appears in the active list. Data packs are per-world, so a pack enabled in one save will not carry over to another.
Check for Conflicts
Other data packs that modify ender pearl behavior, projectile motion, or water physics can override or interfere with skipping. Temporarily disable other packs that touch pearls or projectiles and test again. If skipping returns, re-enable them one at a time to find the culprit.
