Combining Skippy Pearls with Boats and Elytra for Fast Travel
Pearls Plus a Boat
A boat and skipping pearls complement each other well. Use the boat to cover ground when your aim is off or your pearl supply is low, and use pearls when you have a clear straight line across water. If a pearl lands you in open water, you can place a boat right there, paddle to a better angle, and resume throwing from a more favorable position.
Pearls Plus Elytra
Elytra already make ocean travel easy, but they need height and fireworks. Skippy Pearls give you a cheap way to gain a starting position over water:
1. Throw pearls across a lake or bay until you are standing on water far from shore.
2. From there, launch with your elytra and glide toward your destination.
3. Keep a few pearls in your hotbar so that if you lose altitude over water, you can throw one to reposition instead of swimming.
When to Use Which
- Short gaps and precise landings: pearls.
- Long open stretches with no landmarks: elytra.
- Mixed terrain where you keep hitting water: boat as the fallback, pearls for the water sections, elytra for the big pushes. Switching between all three keeps your momentum up and avoids the slow swim that normally punishes a bad throw.
