How to Set or Change Your Skin with SkinsRestorer
Using the Skin Command
Once SkinsRestorer is installed on your server, changing your skin is done entirely through chat commands — no file editing required. The core command is /skin set, which accepts either a Minecraft username or a direct skin URL.
To copy another player's skin, type /skin set <username>. The plugin fetches that account's current skin from Mojang's servers and applies it to your character. To use a custom skin from an image host, type /skin set <url> where the URL points directly to a valid skin PNG file.
Clearing and Restoring
If you want to remove your custom skin and go back to the default, use /skin clear. This resets your appearance. On offline-mode servers, your skin may not persist across restarts unless the server is
configured to store it — check with your admin if your skin disappears after a restart.
Some servers restrict which commands players can use. If /skin set returns a permission error, the server owner has limited skin changes to certain ranks. Also note that skins apply to your account, not your current session, so you only need to set it once. After applying, other players may need to move away and back, or you may need to relog, for the change to render correctly on their clients.
