SkinsRestorer Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I set my skin with skinsrestorer?
Run /skin set with a direct link to a skin PNG, or /skin set to copy another player's skin. On offline mode servers you may need to run /skinstorage or reconnect for the change to stick.
Why is my skin showing as steve or alex?
This usually means the skin wasn't applied to your profile or the server can't reach the skin source. Try /skin clear then /skin set again, and make sure your server has working internet access to fetch skins.
How do I get my skin to load automatically when I join?
Enable the auto-apply option in the config so SkinsRestorer fetches and applies your saved skin on login. Players still need to have set a skin at least once for it to be remembered.
Does skinsrestorer work on offline mode servers?
Yes, that's its main purpose. It stores skins server-side and applies them to players who don't have a Mojang-authenticated profile.
How do I use skinsrestorer on a bungeecord or velocity network?
Install SkinsRestorer on the proxy and enable the proxy mode in the config, then make sure backend servers aren't also trying to manage skins. Restart the whole network after changing the config.
What command do I use to change my skin?
The base command is /skin, with subcommands like set, clear, and update. Use /skin help to see the exact options your server has enabled.
Can I upload a skin file directly instead of a url?
SkinsRestorer accepts direct image URLs, not local file uploads. Host your PNG somewhere public and use that link with /skin set.
Why does /skin say I don't have permission?
Your server's permission setup is blocking the command. Ask an admin to grant the skin command permission node to your group or rank.
How do I make my skin show up for other players too?
Skins are applied server-side, so once set they should be visible to everyone on the server. If others still see Steve, they may need to relog or the server may need a skin refresh.
Does skinsrestorer hurt server performance?
It's lightweight under normal use, but fetching many skins at once on join can cause brief lag. Caching and auto-apply settings in the config help reduce repeated lookups.
