Applying Skins Automatically on Join for Offline Servers

Why Automatic Skins Matter

On offline-mode servers, players lose their skins every time they join because there's no Mojang authentication. SkinsRestorer can automatically reapply a stored skin when a player connects, so nobody has to type a command each session.

How It Works

When a player sets a skin with /skin set, the plugin can remember that choice and reapply it on their next login. This behavior depends on the server's configuration — the admin controls whether skins are saved per-player and restored automatically.

If you're a player and your skin keeps resetting, ask your admin to enable automatic skin restoring in the plugin config. If you're an admin, look for the option that stores applied skins and reapplies them on join, and make sure the storage backend (such as a database or file) is writable.

Things to Watch

  • Automatic restoring only works if the player previously set a skin while the feature was enabled.
  • On proxy networks, enable the feature on the proxy so it applies before players reach any backend server.
  • If a player changes their Minecraft username, their stored skin may need to be reset manually.

Once configured, players simply join and their skin appears without any command.
