SkinChanger Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the SkinChanger menu?
Type /skinchanger, /skin, or /cape in chat to open the mod menu. You can also bind these commands to a key in your controls settings for quicker access.
Why can't other players see my custom skin or cape?
SkinChanger only changes skins and capes on your client—other players see your original skin and cape. This is by design; the mod is for personal cosmetic use only.
Can I use a skin from a player who doesn't exist?
No, if you enter a player name or UUID that doesn't exist, the mod won't find a valid skin to load. Make sure you're typing the exact player name or a valid UUID.
What file formats work for loading skins from my computer?
The mod accepts PNG image files for skins. The image should be a standard Minecraft skin texture (64×32 or 64×64 pixels).
How do I load a skin from a URL?
Use the URL option in the menu and paste a direct link to a PNG skin file. The URL must point directly to the image file, not a webpage.
Can I use other players' Optifine capes?
Yes, the mod can load Optifine capes from other players if they have one equipped. Use the player name or UUID option in the cape menu to retrieve it.
How do I turn my cape off?
Open the SkinChanger menu and look for the toggle or button to disable the cape. Once turned off, you'll see your default appearance without a cape.
Can I temporarily change skins for all players on my screen?
Yes, the mod has a feature to temporarily change all players' skins in your view. This only affects what you see and doesn't change anything for other players.
What's the difference between Preview Skin and Confirm Skin?
Preview Skin lets you see how the skin looks without saving it as your active skin. Confirm Skin applies the skin permanently until you change it again.
Does SkinChanger work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod works on servers, but remember that other players only see your original skin and cape—your changes are client-side only.
