Sit Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I sit down with Sit Mod?
Point at the top of a stair, slab, or half-bed block with an empty main hand and right-click. Your character will sit down on the block. Make sure nothing is held in your main hand or the interaction won't trigger.
How do I stand back up after sitting?
Press the key you normally use to exit a minecart, which is SHIFT by default. You'll dismount the seat and stand up. You can also change this in your controls if it conflicts with something else.
Why can't I sit on my stairs?
The most common cause is holding an item in your main hand — the mod only triggers when your hand is empty. Also make sure you're pointing at the top face of the block, not the side, and that you're within the configured block reach distance.
Can I sit on slabs as well as stairs?
Yes, both stairs and slabs work as seats. Any stair or slab block can be right-clicked to sit on, which makes them handy for building chairs and sofas.
Does Sit Mod work with half-beds?
Yes, half-beds are supported as a sitting surface in addition to stairs and slabs. This gives you another place to rest besides the standard furniture blocks.
How do I change how far away I can sit from a block?
Open the mod's configuration file and look for the block_reach_distance option. Increasing it lets you sit on blocks from farther away, while decreasing it requires you to be closer. This is useful if you keep missing the block when right-clicking.
Does Sit Mod work in multiplayer?
Yes, but it must be installed on both the server and the client. If only one side has it, sitting won't work correctly for players.
Will Sit Mod work with stairs and slabs from other mods?
It supports most stairs and slabs added by other mods, so modded furniture blocks generally work too. If a specific modded block doesn't respond, it may not be registered in a way the mod recognizes.
Can I sit on a block while holding a tool or item?
No, your main hand must be empty to sit. If you're holding anything, the right-click will use the item instead of seating you. Switch to an empty hotbar slot first.
Does sitting on blocks cause lag or performance issues?
No, the mod is lightweight and only adds a simple sit interaction on existing blocks. It doesn't generate new entities or heavy processes, so it won't noticeably affect performance.
