Troubleshoot Uneven or Missing Colored Lighting
Verify Shader is Active
Confirm Simply Shaded is selected in Options → Video Settings → Shaders. The shader name should appear highlighted or marked as active. If it's not loading, try restarting your game.
Check Light Source Placement
Colored lighting only emits from actual light-producing blocks. Ensure you're placing torches, lanterns, glowstone, or similar blocks—decorative blocks without light values won't glow. Stand near a known light source to verify the effect is working.
Adjust Render Distance
If lighting appears patchy or inconsistent, your render distance may be too low. Increase it slightly in Video Settings to allow the shader to calculate lighting across a wider area. Very low render distances can make colored light appear to cut off abruptly.
Reset Shader Settings
If lighting looks broken or incorrect, locate a "Reset to Default" option in the shader configuration panel. This restores standard colored lighting behavior. Then adjust settings incrementally to find your preferred look.
Restart the Game
Shader changes sometimes require a full game restart to apply correctly. Save your world and relaunch if issues persist.
