How to Create and Join Password-Protected Group Chats

Creating a Group

Open the voice chat interface and choose the option to create a group. Give it a name and set a password. The password is what other players type to join, so share it only with the people you want in the group. Once created, you are the group's host. Group audio ignores distance — everyone in the group hears each other regardless of where they are in the world, which is the main difference from proximity chat.

Joining a Group

Other players open the same interface, find the group by its name, and enter the password. After joining, they appear in the group member list. You can see who is in the group and adjust their individual volumes from the same menu. If someone cannot find the group, confirm they are on the same server and that the group name was typed exactly.

Managing the Group

As host you can remove members or close the group. Leaving a group returns you to normal proximity chat. You can be in proximity chat and a group at the same time — group audio takes priority for members, while nearby non-members still hear you through proximity if you are not whispering. Use groups for cross-map coordination and proximity for casual nearby conversation.
