Move Villagers Across Water and Difficult Terrain
Crossing Water
Villagers will follow you across shallow water and can swim behind you. Hold your emerald or emerald block and walk into water—the villagers will pursue. For deeper water, villagers may struggle; consider building a shallow path or using stepping stones to help them cross safely.
Navigating Hills and Cliffs
Villagers can follow you up slopes and gentle hills without issue. For steep cliffs or tall drops, they may not be able to follow directly. Instead, build a ramp or staircase to guide them down safely. This prevents them from taking fall damage and ensures they stay with your group.
Avoiding Hazards
Villagers will follow you even near lava, fire, or other dangerous blocks. Be cautious when leading them through the Nether or hazardous areas—they can still take damage from environmental sources. Lead them around dangers rather than through them, and ensure your path is well-lit and clear of hostile mobs.
