How to Enable or Disable Permanent Night Vision for All Players

Understanding How the Data Pack Works

This data pack applies night vision to every player automatically, so there is no item to craft and no potion to drink. The effect is granted through the data pack's function files, which run on a repeating schedule. Because of this, you cannot toggle it with a chat command unless the pack itself provides one.

Turning the Effect On or Off

The reliable way to control the effect is through the data pack list itself:

1. Open your world and run /datapack list to confirm the pack is active.

2. To stop the effect, run /datapack disable with the pack's name, then reload with /reload.

3. To bring it back, run /datapack enable with the same name and /reload again.

If you only want to remove the effect temporarily from yourself, use /effect clear @s minecraft:night_vision. Note that the pack will reapply it on its next cycle, so this is only a short-term fix.

If the Effect Will Not Go Away

Check for other data packs or mods that also grant night vision. Two sources stacking will make it look like disabling one had no effect. Remove or disable the other source, then reload.
