How to Remove or Reduce Water Fog So You Can See Underwater
Why water fog is the usual first stop
Vanilla water fog closes in quickly and makes oceans, rivers, and flooded caves hard to navigate. Simple Fog Control gives you a dedicated water fog setting so you can push that murk back or switch it off entirely.
Steps
1. Open the Simple Fog Control settings screen through
Mod Menu.
2. Locate the water fog option (it is listed separately from terrain and Nether fog).
3. Either disable water fog outright, or drag its intensity slider toward the minimum to keep a subtle tint while restoring visibility.
4. Leave the screen and dive into water to check the result. If it is still too thick, reopen the screen and lower it further.
Things to keep in mind
- Removing water fog does not remove the blue colour cast that some resource packs or shaders apply; those are separate from this mod.
- If you use shaders, the shader pack may override water fog on its own. Test with shaders off to confirm the mod is the thing controlling what you see.
- Setting water fog very low in dark caves can make it harder to judge depth, so some players keep a small amount rather than zero.
