Simple Fog Control Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the Simple Fog Control settings?
The mod has no keybind of its own; its settings screen is reached through the Mod Menu mod's mod list. Install Mod Menu, open it from the main menu or pause screen, find Simple Fog Control in the list, and click its config button.
Can I use Simple Fog Control without Mod Menu?
The mod's config screen is provided through Mod Menu, so without it you have no in-game way to change the fog settings. Install Mod Menu alongside the mod to get the settings button.
How do I remove water fog so I can see underwater?
Open the settings screen and turn down or disable the water fog option. This removes the thick blue-green haze that normally limits underwater visibility, letting you see much farther while submerged.
How do I clear the fog in the Nether?
In the settings screen, adjust the Nether fog option to reduce or remove the red haze. This makes the Nether much brighter and easier to navigate, especially when building or fighting.
Does this mod change terrain fog too?
Yes, it also controls the overall terrain/distance fog that hides the far edge of the world. Lowering it lets you see distant terrain and structures instead of a wall of haze.
Why does my fog setting not seem to change anything?
Make sure you applied or saved the change in the settings screen and that you are looking at the right fog type (water, Nether, or terrain) for the situation. Some fog only appears in specific dimensions or while underwater, so test in the matching environment.
Will removing fog hurt my FPS?
Reducing fog generally does not lower performance and can even help slightly, since you are not rendering the fog layer. However, seeing much farther can mean more chunks are visible, which may cost some FPS on weaker machines.
Is Simple Fog Control compatible with shaders or other fog mods?
Shader packs and other fog-altering mods often override fog rendering, so your Simple Fog Control settings may be ignored while they are active. Disable the conflicting shader or mod if you want this mod's settings to take effect.
Does the mod work in every dimension?
It covers the Overworld, Nether, and water fog, so the main environments are handled. Settings are applied per fog type, so you may need to adjust each one separately for the look you want.
Can I reset the fog back to vanilla defaults?
Yes, the settings screen lets you restore the default values for each fog option. If you are unsure, set the sliders back to their original positions or use the reset option if one is provided.
