Reading Your Armor Durability at a Glance During Combat

The whole point of the mod is that you stop guessing whether your chestplate is about to shatter mid-fight. Once you understand what the overlay is telling you, you can decide in a split second whether to retreat and swap gear.

What the Overlay Shows

The HUD renders a small icon for each equipped armor slot — helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots — so you can confirm at a glance that nothing is missing or unequipped. Alongside or beneath each icon, the mod displays the remaining durability of that piece. Depending on your config, this appears as a bar, a percentage, or a numeric value. A piece that is nearly depleted will visibly read as low, which is your cue to act.

Using It in Practice

Glance at the overlay after any extended fight, creeper blast, or lava dip. If one piece is critically low while the rest are healthy, that is the piece to replace first. Because the display is always on screen, you never need to open your inventory to check — which matters most when you are being chased or fighting near a ledge. If the numbers feel cluttered, trim the display in the config to show only the pieces you care about.
