Use Explosions Effectively for Mining or Demolition
Plan Your Blast
Understand that explosions now create dangerous shrapnel, so never use them near structures you want to keep. Choose open terrain or dedicated demolition zones away from your base.
Maximize Block Harvesting
When an explosion breaks blocks into secondary debris, those fragments travel outward as physical projectiles. Position yourself behind the blast to collect falling debris safely. Heavy blocks like stone produce chunkier fragments that travel farther, while lighter materials scatter more chaotically.
Control the Blast Radius
1. Use smaller explosives (single TNT) for precise demolition rather than large chains.
2. Place TNT against the specific blocks you want to destroy—shrapnel spreads outward, so positioning matters.
3. Account for deflection: shrapnel bounces off metal blocks, so place them strategically to redirect fragments away from areas you want to preserve.
Safety Measures
- Stand at least several blocks away from the detonation point.
- Wear full armor to reduce shrapnel impact damage.
- Use a shield to block incoming fragments.
- Avoid chaining multiple explosions in quick succession—overlapping shrapnel becomes unpredictable.
- Never trigger explosions in confined spaces where fragments bounce repeatedly.
Plan each blast carefully, as secondary debris can cause unexpected damage to nearby terrain.
