How do I showcase an item in chat?
Hover over the item in your inventory and press the showcase keybind (Shift + X by default). The item's name and details will be posted into chat as a clickable, hoverable link.
What does showcasing an item actually do?
It sends a chat message containing the item's name and icon, and other players can hover over it to see its full tooltip, including enchantments, lore, and durability.
Can other players see the item's NBT data like enchantments?
Yes, the showcased item preserves its tooltip, so enchantments, custom names, lore, and other item data are visible to anyone who hovers over the chat link.
Why does nothing happen when I press Shift + X?
Make sure you're hovering over an actual item in your inventory, not an empty slot, and that no other mod has bound Shift + X to a conflicting action. Check your keybind settings if it still doesn't work.
How do I change the showcase keybind?
Open Options, go to Controls, and search for the Showcase Item Mod keybind entry. Click it and press the key combination you want to use instead.
Does the mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, but the server must also have the mod installed, or it needs to support the chat format the mod uses. On vanilla servers without the mod, the showcase may not render correctly for other players.
Can I showcase items from a chest or other container?
The mod is designed to work from your inventory screen. If you're viewing a chest, you may need to move the item into your own inventory first before showcasing it.
Does showcasing an item drop it or remove it from my inventory?
No, showcasing is purely a chat action. The item stays exactly where it is in your inventory.
Can I showcase items in singleplayer?
Yes, you can showcase items in singleplayer chat, though the message is mainly useful for taking screenshots or testing. It won't be seen by other players since you're alone.
Does the mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight and only acts when you press the showcase key, so it shouldn't affect performance. If you notice lag, check for conflicts with other chat or inventory mods.
