Set Up a Sustainable Mending Villager
Understanding Trade Expiration
Unlike vanilla Minecraft, you can no longer repeatedly break and replace a lectern to force a mending book trade. Shifting Wares Mod makes villagers re-roll their trades daily, so your mending villager may offer silk touch tomorrow instead.
Strategy for Reliable Enchantment Access
Instead of relying on a single villager, build a trading hall with multiple librarians. Each librarian will independently re-roll once per day at their workstation. With enough librarians, the probability that at least one offers mending on any given day increases significantly.
Steps:
1. Create separate workstations (lecterns) for each librarian in different areas
2. Ensure each villager can access their own workstation
3. Check back daily—at least one should eventually offer mending
4. Once you find a mending trade, use it before the daily reset
5.
Protecting Your Workstations
With workstation protection enabled, breaking and replacing a lectern won't reset trades anymore. Your villager's trades are tied to their UUID, so you can safely move workstations without losing progress.
