How to Confirm Another Player Is Blocking With Their Shield

The animation problem the mod fixes

In vanilla Minecraft, the blocking animation for other players sometimes failed to display, even when they were actively holding up a shield. This made PvP confusing because you could not tell whether an opponent was guarding. The Shield Fixes Mod corrects this so the blocking pose appears reliably for other players on your screen.

What to look for

When another player is blocking, their shield should be visibly raised in front of them in the blocking position. If you see this pose, their shield is active and your melee or projectile attacks will be reduced or blocked. If their shield is lowered or held at their side, they are not blocking, and your attack will deal full damage.

Apply it in PvP

Use this visual confirmation before committing to an attack. If the animation is absent, attack immediately. Because the mod also adds a sound when a shield is hit, you get two independent confirmations: the raised shield tells you they are guarding, and the shield-hit sound tells you your attack was absorbed. Together these cues remove the guesswork from shield-based combat.
