Holding Shields with Weapons

Shield by Side works seamlessly when you're carrying both a shield and a weapon. The shield will stay lowered by your side, leaving your main hand free for swords, axes, or other tools.

Setup Steps

1. Place your shield in your off-hand slot

2. Hold your weapon (sword, axe, pickaxe, etc.) in your main hand

3. The shield renders down by your side while your weapon displays normally

4. Switch to blocking by raising your shield—your weapon will lower automatically

Practical Use

This configuration gives you the best of both worlds: clear visibility for combat while keeping defensive protection ready. You can attack freely, then instantly raise your shield to block without repositioning items. The lowered shield doesn't interfere with your weapon's animation or your ability to see incoming threats. This is ideal for survival exploration, combat encounters, or any situation where you need both offense and defense without sacrificing screen space.
