Enhance Lighting in Dark Caves and Dungeons

Understand Colored Light Propagation

Shader_vanilla's colored lighting system makes torchlight and other block light sources more visible in dark spaces. Light from torches, lanterns, and glowstone now casts color into surrounding areas, making caves feel more atmospheric and easier to navigate.

Place Strategic Light Sources

Use torches, soul lanterns, and other light-emitting blocks to create colored lighting effects. Torches emit warm orange light that spreads further with this shader, while soul lanterns cast cooler blue tones. Place lights at regular intervals to illuminate large cave systems.

Use Shadows to Your Advantage

The soft shadows cast by blocks and terrain create depth in dark areas. This makes it easier to spot uneven ground and obstacles. Shadows also help you see where light sources are positioned, making navigation more intuitive.

Adjust Ambient Light if Needed

If caves still feel too dark, check your shader settings for ambient light or minimum brightness options. Increasing these slightly makes caves more playable while preserving the atmospheric darkness that makes exploration engaging.
