Set World Spawn Point Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I set the spawn point before I create a new world?
Open the mod's config file and set the xCoordSpawnPoint, yCoordSpawnPoint, and zCoordSpawnPoint values to the coordinates you want before generating the world. The mod reads these values at world creation, so the spawn point is locked in from the start.
What does yCoordSpawnPoint = -1 actually do?
A value of -1 tells the mod to auto-select the first solid block at that X/Z position instead of using a fixed height. This is the default and is the safest option if you don't know the exact terrain height.
Why do I keep spawning a few blocks away from my set point instead of exactly on it?
Vanilla spawn logic scatters players within a radius around the world spawn unless forceExactSpawn is enabled. Turn on forceExactSpawn in the config to make players land directly on the defined coordinates.
How do I make players respawn on the exact spawn point after dying?
Enable forceExactSpawn in the config. With it on, players respawn directly on the set point instead of being scattered, and even bed respawns place them right on the pillow.
Can I spawn players right next to a village?
Yes, just enter the village's X and Z coordinates into the config and leave Y at -1 so the mod finds the surface. Players will then start the world right beside the village.
My spawn point puts players underground or floating in the air. How do I fix it?
This usually means the Y value is set too high or too low for the terrain at those X/Z coordinates. Set yCoordSpawnPoint back to -1 to let the mod pick the first solid block, or manually adjust Y to match the surface height.
Do I need to create a new world for the spawn point to take effect?
Yes, the mod applies the spawn point when a world is first created. Changing the config afterward won't move the spawn in an existing world.
Does this mod work on a server, or only in singleplayer?
It works on servers as long as the mod is installed on the server side. The config values are read by the server when the world is generated, so all players spawning into that world use the same point.
Will this mod conflict with other mods that change world spawn behavior?
It can conflict with mods that also override spawn placement, since both may try to control the same logic. If spawns behave unexpectedly, check whether another spawn-related mod is installed and disable one of them.
Does setting an exact spawn point hurt performance or world generation?
No, the mod only changes where the spawn point is placed and doesn't add ongoing tick work or heavy generation changes. Performance impact is negligible compared to vanilla.
